Nature lovers should definitely come to Sologne, a land steeped in mystery and legend! Boasting a mosaic of natural environments – woods, ponds and moorland teeming with wild game – Sologne is perfect for watching and experiencing nature.

Bring your hiking boots or your bike to explore this great outdoors and keep your eyes peeled for deer, roe deer or boars along the forest trails or from the comfort of an observatory. Sologne is home to 220 species of bird, including 140 nesting birds, some thirty species of fish, a dozen reptile species and just as many frogs and toads. Thousands of insects also thrive here, including 56 species of dragon fly.

A spectacular 2,800 ponds dot this haven for wildlife, so where better to come and catch (sight of) a roach, pike or carp?

Beyond the beautiful scenery and outdoor activities, Sologne also bids you welcome in its pretty quintessential villages with red brick half-timbered houses and brick ovens, some of which still function today.

Fancy a bite of something? Then head to one of our many local caterers or producers for a delicious regional speciality – there's the famous tarte Tatin of course, but also strawberries, raspberries, honey, wild game and asparagus ...
